ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Two Tennessee women face charges for clashing with police at Mid Rivers Mall, then fleeing the scene.

Officers were alerted when a car driven by 25-year-old Monique Lewis was driving at high speed in the wrong direction in the mall parking lot.

Police made a traffic stop but Lewis sped away, fleeing down eastbound Interstate 70 to 270 southbound, and eventually coming to a stop at Manchester and 270 about 20 minutes later.

While searching the vehicle, officers found more than $1,000 in stolen clothing.

Lewis has been charged with second-degree assault, felony stealing and resisting arrest -- she also has an active warrant out of Tennessee for aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
