ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A school bus driver has been suspended after leaving a 6-year-old University City boy unattended on a bus for more than 8 hours.

The boy fell asleep before he got to school Tuesday morning -- the Missouri Central School Bus Company says the driver didn't check the bus after dropping students off.

The boy's mother called police when he didn't get off the bus in the afternoon.

The bus company says the driver has been suspended pending a full investigation, and the University City School District says - if he returns to work - he will no longer drive U. City routes.

The boy was found about 4:15 Tuesday afternoon and wasn't physically injured, but his mother told KMOV he was crying and hungry.
