Activity Begins on Crestwood Mall Site

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you're driving by on Watson Road you'll notice some activity on the former Crestwood Mall site. You’ll also notice that those large mounds of dirt that some sarcastically refer to as "Mt. Crestwood" are still in place.

Crestwood city administrator Kris Simpson says time is running out for developer Urban-Street Group to take some action to remove those unsightly piles of dirt.

“Grading must begin by the end of the month. By August 31st there needs to be bulldozers on the site or they will be in violation of that permit and subject to citation,” he says.

He says what they're doing out there now is removing tall grass and weeds that have also been cited as contributing to the general unsightliness of the former Crestwood Mall site.  City officials want Urban-Street Group to bulldoze the mounds down to the level of Watson Road, in preparation for building something new on the site of the mall that closed back in 2013.
