Affton Parent Upset Over School's Handling of Pot Potato Chip Situation

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A parent in the Affton School District says his stepdaughter was given potato chips with marijuana on them.  But that's not what he's most upset about.

Jim Stephens is upset because he says officials did not notify all parents in the district.  His step-daughter is a 5th grader at Gotsch and it was confirmed the potato chips had marijuana on them.

Stephens says the situation was handled properly and no one was hurt...except for the way Affton got the word out.

"Her mother was notified, but there was no follow up to the school what so ever. We sent several emails saying we’re going to talk this over with the superintendent, we are following protocol. Still nothing has happened," he says.

The Affton School District did release a statement saying in part that “every time an incident occurs involving the safety of our students, it is imperative that we communicate with our families.  There are times when only the parents of the students involved will be notified.”
