Aldermen Skeptical of Potential Lambert Deal

February 12, 2018 - 8:35 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -  Aldermen continue to balk at the idea of leasing Lambert Airport to private investors.

Several aldermen telling KMOX News they are skeptical, wary or out-right against the idea. Alderwoman Christine Ingrassia says typically privatizing public assets means money up front, but regrets later--as happened in Chicago with the parking meters. Alderman Jeffrey Boyd says leasing Lambert would mean a loss of control.  Any eventual deal would have to be approved by the aldermen. But the plan is in the early stages, and the aldermen may not get to vote on it for a year or more.
