ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - An early present for commuters who drive Interstate 44, as MoDOT plans to open all lanes of the highway near Shrewsbury, Mo. on Thursday.

Westbound traffic will be at 2:00 p.m. and the Eastbound lanes by 7:00 p-m. The Shrewsbury on ramp should open shortly at that. 44 will still need resurfacing and stripes, that should be completed by the fall. MoDOT is completing the eastbound bridge, repairs on the westbound bridge, and the new driving surface on I-44 in the area near Shrewsbury.

Construction on the stretch of highway from Laclede Station Road, to near the St. Louis City limits began in March 2017.

The construction on the project was delayed in November 2018 due to a concern with greater than usual cracking on the westbound I-44 bridge in the area.
