ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis' annual Independence Day Parade will honor one of the region's most cherished institutions.

Parade Grand Marshall Jeff Wright says this year's Honorary Grand Marshal will be Denny Reagan of the Muny.

“The Muny is celebrating its 100th anniversary, so we thought it would be fitting to honor Denny and the Muny as our honorary grand marshal. We will also have the Muny kids and the Muny teens preforming on a couple of our floats,” he says.

Instead of ending at Union Station, this year’s "America's Birthday Parade" will step off there, going toward the Arch to celebrate Fair St. Louis' return to the Arch grounds,  and they're inviting spectators to join in at the end of the procession.

“We’re going to open the bike racks and invite them to join us at the end of the parade, and follow it all the way straight down Market Street to 20th and Broadway, then we skip over 4th street and all of those people can go into Fair St. Louis and watch the opening of the fair and the first airshow at 12:30,” he says.
