ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A bi-partisan measure to rename the Arch Grounds is heading for President Trump's desk.

US Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill have co-sponsored a bill, which would officially rename the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial as the Gateway Arch National Park.

Calling the Arch one of the world's most iconic landmarks, Republican Senator Blunt said renaming the park would better highlight its central feature and make it more immediately recognizable. McCaskill, a Democrat, called this summer's planned reopening of the Arch museum the perfect time to launch the new name. the measure passed the senate in december and passed the house yesterday.

Companion legislation is also working its way through the Missouri legislature.
