(KMOX) — Seeing panhandlers on the side of the highway is a typical sight in any city. However, this time, a man was handing out resumes rather than taking money.

Patrick Hoagland was on the side of the road in Phoenix, Arizona with a sign that said "Please take a resume. Laid off. Looking for a job."

Melissa DiGianfilippo, president of a PR firm in Scottsdale, Ariz., tweeted about her encounter with Hoagland.

The tweet captured the attention of audiences across the nation, and within two days, Hoagland had hundreds of job offers, according to the Phoenix CBS affiliate.

"It was crazy. It was hard to navigate my phone for a little bit, but I received so many great offers," Hoagland told AZFamily.com. "I received offers from companies that wouldn't hire you without experience, but because they saw my determination, they offered me a position without even an interview."

After narrowing his options, Hoagland chose a job with a concrete-grinding company.
