updated 2/8/19 8:15 with statement from Better Together spokesman Ed Rhode: "Better Together identified technical corrections and clarifications to language of the amendment proposed by the Task Force. There are no changes in policy. We understand Unite STL has withdrawn the initiative petition it filed last week and will be filing a revised initiative petition with the Secretary of State on Monday.”

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Better Together says it has withdrawn the petition to merge St. Louis city and St. Louis County, but plans to refile it.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting the attorney for Better Together, Chris Pieper, has sent a letter to the Missouri secretary of state withdrawing the petition to retool the language.
Pieper acknowledges that Better Together has been working on the changes since the petition was filed.
This is being done, according Pieper, simply to clarify language. It will be refiled Monday.

Better Together has announced its first round of town hall-style meetings to discuss the proposed city-county merger.

The first one is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 6 at Greater St. Mark Family Church in Dellwood.
