ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Beermaker Billy Busch plans to break ground this coming year on a new brewery in St. Charles County to house his Kraftig beer operations.

Located in Defiance, Missouri, the brewery will sit on a sprawling farm Busch hopes will be a welcoming place.

"Where people can come out, enjoy beer, enjoy the farm experience, see animals around the place, and really understand what it takes to make great beer," Busch says.

Up until now, Kraftig has been brewed by another brewery out of state.

The new brewery, which is expected to open in the spring of 2020, will include a 1,200-foot-deep well that Busch plans to drill to provide fresh water for his beer production.

The farm will be open to the public, complete with a vaulted-ceiling beer hall and patio overlooking a lake and wildlife.

The great-grandson of St. Louis' most-famous brewer, Busch calls this a "new chapter" in his family's history.

Correction: In the original version of this story, we stated that the brewery would feature a 500-foot-deep well. Brewmaster Marc Gottfried, the brewery will actually feature a 1,200-foot-deep well. We regret the error.
