Blues' Announcer John Kelly adds voice to Stanley Cup Final on KMOX

Chris Kerber invited Kelly to join in KMOX broadcasts

St. Louis, MO (KMOX) - Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Blues play-by-play announcer John Kelly will now get his chance to call a Stanley Cup final.

His last turn in the broadcast booth was during the Blues first-round series against Winnipeg.

In three decades calling hockey games, Kelly has never been at the helm for a final.

And because NBC and NBC Sports Network will provide exclusive TV coverage, the veteran broadcaster expected to be a spectator.

But his radio counterpart Chris Kerber had other plans.  After the Blues beat the Sharks, Kerber approached Kelly, asking Kelly to join him behind the mic.  So for every game on KMOX, John Kelly will call the second period.

Blues fans are hoping the outcome will be different than the game his father -- legendary broadcaster Dan Kelly called in 1970 -- the last time the Blues made it to the final round.
