ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Boeing has until the end of the week to decide whether it wants to bid on a fighter jet contract with Canada.

But Boeing reportedly needs to drop its challenge to a Trade Commission ruling favoring Canadian company Bombardier to even be considered. Boeing, in court, alleged Bombardier sold passenger planes to Delta below the cost of production -- harming Boeing's business. Richard Aboulafia is an aviation analyst with TEAL group.

"The Canadians immediately retaliated that we reserve the right to not do business with people that are suing us, and by making clear that Canadian industry would play a role in the final selection process," he says.

Canada's requesting 88 new fighter jets that would cost at least $12 billion.
