ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Although the Goody Goody Diner is temporarily closed after a devastating fire this week, the staff will be back in business thanks to another local resaturant in north St. Louis. Breakaway Café has offered jobs to both the kitchen and wait staff of Goody Goody, while their restaurant is being restored.

Breakaway Café's owner Matt Quinlisk says hearing of the tragic fire, as a small business owner himself, he first thought about the employees and their loss of jobs. He is a lifelong resident of north St. Louis County and remembers the times he enjoyed taking his daughter to Goody Goody.

"It’s important that people in North County have good places to eat and that people have places to work close to their home and community," Quinlisk expressed. "And that’s why we want to serve breakfast while they rebuild."

Beginning Monday, April 29th, the Breakaway Café will be extending its hours and will be open for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and they plan to offer some of Goody Goody's signature menu items. Usually, Breakaway Café doesn't open until 11 a.m.

Goody Goody posted on its Facebook page Tuesday morning, saying they will be "closed until further notice" after a late-night fire heavily damaged the restaurant.

No injuries were reported, but the restaurant was not able to determine how long they'd be closed for.
