Budget Workshop Helps Families Manage Money

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Is your budget tight because you had to pay taxes? Or, do you have some extra cash thanks to a tax refund? Either way the city of St. Louis will be holding a workshop this week to help you save, or spend, wisely.

"A lot of us just didn’t have a budget, aren’t tracking spending and have no idea what we’re doing with our money," says Financial Well-Being Coach Abby Buckhouse, who will be teaching at the Interactive Credit and Money Management Workshop for Families, sponsored by the City of St. Louis Office of Financial Empowerment.

She says those over 18 will be taught about credit and budgeting, while those under 18 will tackle an interactive budgeting simulation.

“Participants will get one of eight different profiles, and they’ll have to live and budget, and live off that budget," she says.

The workshop is Thursday evening from 5:30 until 8 at the Carnahan High School of the Future on South Broadway.
