Cardinals 2019 Hall of Fame Ballot to be Announced on KMOX

Who do you want to see go into the Cardinals Hall of Fame this year?

January 30, 2019 - 9:20 am

Former St. Louis Cardinals closer Lee Smith is going into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019, but will be also go into the Cardinals Hall of Fame this summer? First, we'll have to see if he gets on the 2019 ballot.

Wednesday night at 7 p.m. the official Cardinals 2019 Hall of Fame ballot will be announced by Cards president Bill DeWitt III on KMOX with our Tom Ackerman. It will be the first segment of our Cardinals Countdown to Opening Day show, which airs every Wednesday leading up to MLB's opening day.

Last year, St. Louis fans voted online and the Cardinals Hall of Fame Red Ribbon Selection Committee chose Ray Lankford, Vince Coleman and Harry Brecheen for the 2018 Hall of Fame class. It left Keith Hernandez, Jason Isringhausen, Scott Rolen, John Tudor and Smith hoping for better luck this year.

But there's no guarantee they will all return to the ballot, as players like Steve Carlton and Edgar Renteria were left off last year's ballot after not making it in 2017.

You can listen to the announcement at KMOX 1120AM or click here to listen online.
