ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals will officially have two representatives at the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Washington, D.C. Yadier Molina has been added to the NL roster as a replacement for injured catcher Buster Posey.

It is the ninth career All-Star Game for the Cardinals catcher. In the last 10 seasons, Molina has missed only one mid-summer classic, that was in 2016.

Only a handful of Cardinals have more All-Star appearances than Molina: Joe Medwick (10), Red Schoendienst (10), Enos Slaughter (10), Ken Boyer (11), Ozzie Smith (14) and Stan Musial (24). Molina is now tied with Bob Gibson and Albert Pujols, each with nine All-Star selections as Cardinals.

Posey, the San Francisco Giants catcher is out with right hip inflammation.

The Cardinals catcher is hitting .278/.320/.495 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI this season. He leads all NL catchers in home runs and that's with missing about a month of games due to his "pelvic" injury.

Molina joins his teammate, Mile Mikolas on the NL roster and the pair might be joined by Matt Carpenter, who is on the Final Vote ballot. The winner of that last roster spot will be announced later this week.
