For Yadi 9th All-Star Game Experience Was 'Just Having Fun'

He didn't make much of an impact during the game, but Yadier Molina made some great memories with his son at this year's All-Star Game.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KMOX) - Unlike last year, when Yadier Molina hit a home run, was taking photos on the field and stealing the show with his gold-covered catching gear – this go around was a quite one for the St. Louis Cardinals catcher. He still had the slick gear, but he kept a lower profile and had his son, Yanuell, by his side nearly as often as he could.

Molina's only appearance during the 2018 MLB All-Star Game was an at bat, which he flew out to deep center field. As an injury replacement for Buster Posey, Molina was inserted in the DH spot for just one inning. But he told KMOX he wasn't disappointed in the amount of playing time.

"You got Wilson Contrearas who is a great catcher," Molina says. "And he deserved to be there. I'm just having fun right now with them.

"I had such a great time, spending time with future Hall of Famers. It's a great time."

The AL team won it's sixth-straight All-Star Game 8-6, thanks to multiple home runs in the top of the 10th inning by Houston Astros players Alex Bregman and George Springer.

Check out the highlights of Molina's All-Star week, as our Ben Boyd was in Washington following the Cardinals only All-Star at the festivities (Miles Mikolas went home on Sunday to be with his wife in Jupiter, Fl. as they are expecting twins).
