ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Matt Adams not only fills the role of left-handed power bat off the bench for the St. Louis Cardinals, but also fills out the roster with an extra dose of clubhouse camaraderie during a playoff push.  Many of his Cardianls teammates were quick to share their joy when the news broke that Adams was returning to St. Louis after a year and a half hiatus.

Adams had a message for Cardinals Nation, saying he could feel "there was something special happening with this team" when he came to St. Louis with the visiting Washington Nationals last week.

Adams is bringing his 18 home runs through 94 games this season with him to St. Louis. He will give manager Mike Shildt the option to spot start him at first, then Matt Carpenter can play third to keep that MVP bat in the lineup. But what we might see most often is Adams being used as a late-innings pinch hitter.

When I faced @Cardinals last week, I felt there was something special happening with this team. I can’t believe I actually get to be a part of it now! Excited to put the birds on the bat back on and play in front of Cardinal Nation again! Let’s Go Cards!!
