Minor League Baseball has released its nominations for the end of the year awards and the St. Louis Cardinals organization is will represented. The Memphis Redbirds, who won the Triple-A National Championship this year, are represented in four different categories.

But the Cardinals Single-A ballclub, the Peoria Chiefs can be found in one of the more interesting categories: Best Blooper.

That's thanks to pitcher Jesus Cruz's 4th of July moment. He was walking off the field after being taken out of the game, when a bird flew by him and he basically caught it.

Then placed it on his head and showed off to the dugout.

Smart of Cruz to be very friendly with the birds, he probably wished it was a Cardinal. And don't worry, the bird made its way safely out of the stadium.

If you want to vote for any other members of the Cardinals organization, check out Memphis who nominated for Best Team, Best Farm System, Game of the Year and two different players are up for Best Performance.
