CBC, De Smet HS football game will be nationally televised

The two top-ranked high school football teams in Missouri will play on ESPN 2 on Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -  This week was the start of high school football practice in Missouri and two St. Louis-area teams have just learned they will be playing in front of a national audience next month. 

The CBC Cadets and De Smet Spartans matchup on Sept. 20 was selected as one of just 11 games in the nation that will be aired by the GEICO ESPN High School Football Showcase. CBC and De Smet are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the state of Missouri, according to MaxPreps.com.

CBC has won three of the last five Missouri Class-6 State Championships and will go for three in a row this year. They're led by offensive lineman Brad Feeney who has committed to play at Indiana.

De Smet Jesuit lost to CBC in the quarterfinals of last year's championship tournament, but return the No. 2 ranked player in the state in wide receiver senior Jordan Johnson who has commited to Notre Dame. The Spartas also have juniors ranked among the top 250 players in the nation, in corner back Jakailin Johnson, No. 123 and offensive lineman Brody Wisecarver,  No. 245.
