WATCH: There's one favorite who can tame Bethpage, says CBS' Amanda Balionis

But the biggest competition could be the guys who can bomb it far enough (and straight enough): Dustin Johnson, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy or Tony Finau perhaps?

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (KMOX) — So you thought Tiger Woods’ win at the Masters was the best comeback story in sports history? I have news for you.

If Woods wins the PGA Championship this week, it’s bigger.

It will mean back-to-back majors, 16 total major wins, two behind Jack Nicklaus.

It’s 82 wins on the PGA Tour, tying Sam Snead's all-time record.

But mostly, it would be further proof that Tiger is back to his old self, the best player in the world having taken down the biggest, baddest golf course of them all: Bethpage Black.

The public golf course on Long Island, redesigned by architect Reed Jones, is indeed a beast. It’s long... with narrow fairways... surrounded by 3-4 inches of rough.

Good luck!

Who can bomb it far enough (and straight enough) to have a chance? Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy... perhaps a player who’s heating up like the unflappable Tony Finau?

Um, Tiger Woods?

Let’s ask someone who spends a lot of time on the PGA Tour, CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis. She was kind enough to join me for a few minutes to break down the field... and the golf course.
