ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Missouri native and comedic icon Cedric the Entertainer is working on a new project to document the history of memes.

Filling the role of executive producer for "Meme Gods," Cedric is collaborating with Sean Flax and Bryan Black to explore the internet culture phenomenon of memes, which are defined as “an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online, especially through social media.”

The film will feature interviews from digital media experts, comedians, actors and meme creators including George Resch (@tank.sinatra), who has over 1.7M Instagram followers as of June 2019.

While the premiere for the documentary will take place in Los Angeles, a date for the release has not yet been announced.

The project is still looking for investors to be completed. For more information about the movie or investing, click here.
