Close Election Results Should be Announced Today

August 21, 2018 - 9:29 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Two weeks after the August primary, we should find out by day's end whether the St. Louis County Council will have more muscle to do battle with the County Executive.

The plan would let the county council hire its own lawyer, so it doesn't have to rely on a lawyer whose boss is Steve Stenger, when they want to draft legislation that Stenger might not like.  At the end of Election Day, the proposal was losing by three votes. But later today the results of some 400 provisional and overseas and military ballots will be finalized.

Meanwhile, in St. Charles County a squeaker election in the race for the 102 state house seat has been finalized. On the Republican side Ron Hicks beats Bryan Cooper by four votes. And on the Democratic side, John Foster beats Gary Wester by 13 votes. Both of those races could lead to recounts.
