ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The chocolate covered Easter bunnies are hopping out the door at Crown Candy Kitchen in St. Louis. Owner Andy Karandzieff says he has to make about 10,000 of them to meet the demand.

"And they're all solid, people can't find solid chocolate Easter bunnies anymore," Karandzieff says. "They're all hollow now, but for us, they're all solid."

The process involves melting down chocolate on site, filling bunny-shaped molds, cooling the molds in a refrigerator, and popping out the bunnies to put in glass display cases in the front of the store.

These days before Easter are busy – the busiest time of year he estimates – and fun, but also sad for Karandzieff, who lost his father on Easter week in 2005.

After the holiday, Karandzieff and his wife Sherri are planning a vacation in Mexico to lie on the beach and do nothing for a week.
