DeSoto Asks for Volunteers to Prepare for Possible Floods

September 07, 2018 - 7:05 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's expected that creeks will rise as a result of heavy rains expected in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Officials say sandbagging resumes at 9 this morning. DeSoto City Hall is asking volunteers to gather in the lot behind the fire station on Second Street.

The sandbags could be used to protect against Joachim Creek flooding.

For everyone else, there's a potential for flash flooding. The Missouri Highway Patrol says less than a foot of moving water is enough to push a car. Looks can be deceiving on a flooded roadway.

Turn around, don't drown.
