ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Could the seemingly-now all-out war between St. Louis County's Council and Executive cost the region a corporate headquarters?

For several weeks the council has whiffed on even considering routine incentives for Save-a-Lot food stores to move its headquarters from Earth City to the Crossings at Northwest.

“They had offers to move to Kentucky, Kansas city, they chose to stay here,” says St. Ann city administrator Matt Conley.

But it's the location that's the issue.

The county council is asking the FBI and Missouri attorney general to investigate the deal to move several county departments to the Crossings, whose developer gave big donations to county executive Steve Stenger.

Conley, meantime, is worried about losing a company.

“They’re willing to make a $20 million investment in a new corporate headquarters, produce 60 new jobs and retain over 400 headquarters jobs in St. Louis County,” he says.
