Early Morning Carjackers Target ATMs

August 31, 2018 - 7:11 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If you're going to stop to get some cash at an ATM on the way to work early this morning, you'll want to be aware of your surroundings. There’s been a string of carjackings that are occurring at ATM's before sunrise.

At least one has happened in each south St. Louis County, the city of St. Louis and Manchester.

In the county case, three men in a black 4-door vehicle pulled up alongside two people who were at the ATM at the US Bank at Gravois and Heege at about 3:50 last Sunday morning. Two suspects walked up, displayed handguns and ordered the victims out. They took their cash and other items, got in the victim's car and drove off with the black car.

In other cases the suspect's vehicle blocked their victims in the ATM lane.

Police say the suspects in the south County case are black males, two of whom had long dreadlocks. Detectives believe the same three may be responsible for all three cases.
