EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill (KMOX) - Two teachers at a Head Start program in East St. Louis are on paid leave after one of them is accused of forcing preschool children to get naked and stand in a closet as punishment.

The Head Start program is operated by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.

Authorities say a supervisor at the center alerted police last week that a teacher was making 4- and 5-year-olds who misbehaved disrobe and stand inside a closet with the door open for five to 10 minutes.

The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office is working with police to decide if criminal charges should be brought against the teachers.
