Normandy student brings loaded gun to school

Malik Sims, 17, charged with felony

WELLSTON, Mo. (KMOX) - A Normandy High School student is jailed after allegedly threatening to "shoot the place up" and having a loaded pistol in his school backpack.

The North County Police Cooperative says 17-year-old Malik Sims is charged with a felony count of gun possession in a school.

Officers found the weapon Wednesday after breaking up a fight between Sims and an juvenile student.

Police say Normandy Schools followed the appropriate notification protocol.
