MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) — A 75-year-old man is lucky to be alive after getting his car stuck on the train tracks in Maplewood Saturday night.

Strangers rescued the man from the train crossing near Sutton and Greenwood at about 6:30 p.m.

KMOV reports they tried to push the car off the tracks, but were unable to. Then, they had to pull the elderly man through the driver's side window because they couldn't get the door unlocked.

All of that with about 45 seconds to spare before the train hit the car.

The car slid about two blocks after the collision, but in the end...no one was hurt.
