ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Facebook kicked off its Community Boost program in St. Louis in March.  Now the social media giant is expanding its pledge to equip small business owners with the skills they need to compete in today's workplace.

Today Facebook announces a pledge to train a million people and small business owners with the digital and social media skills they need to get hired or run their business.  Facebook partner Ola Ayeni says he founded his company, Claim Academy, to train developers because of the need for coders.

“In St. Louis, three years ago there were over 10,000 positions in the technology field,” he says.

Facebook is expanding free in-person training and offering a new e-learning resource through Facebook Blueprint.  Ayeni is one of 60 organizations in twelve cities partnering with and trained by Facebook to fulfill the pledge.

Community colleges will also be on the Facebook team to offer digital marketing training.
