With great sorrow, we had to bid farewell to some of our favorite musicians, actors and political figures in 2018.

In the world of St. Louis sports, we lost former St. Louis Cardinals player, manager and coach Red Schoendienst in June. St. Louis native and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Jo Jo White also died in January.

Just weeks after the new year began, we were saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of the Cranberries. She died at the age of just 46.

Other musicians that departed in the past year included Avicii, Mac Miller and the legendary Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.

The fashion world was shocked to hear about the death of icon Kate Spade and just days later we were dealt another blow; the passing of chef Anthony Bourdain.

In the world of politics, long-time Arizona Senator John McCain died after a battle with cancer. Former first lady Barbara Bush died just months before the country said farewell to her husband, the 41st president of the United States, George H. W. Bush.
