ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The Archdiocese has changed its mind about assigning Fr. Joseph Jiang to a new parish with an elementary school.

Some parents at St. Gabriel the Archangel expressed concerns about previous allegations of sexual misconduct against Jiang.

"Maybe they should have put him in a parish of predominately older people," says one parent.

“It’s uncomfortable, but if the charges were dropped, sometimes people bring up BS charges, and sometimes their real,” said another.

Charges against Jiang in St. Louis and Lincoln County both wound up being dropped.  The Archbishop was planning a parish meeting tomorrow night to talk about the assignment, but that's been cancelled. Jiang instead will remain stationed at the Cathedral Basilica.

Archbishop Carlson said in a letter that while there's no reason Jiang couldn't be assigned to a church with a school, he realizes that few priests have been exonerated in the courts like he has.
