Fathers Support Center Celebrates 20 Years of Supporting Fathers and Families

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Don’t forget dad this weekend! But think also about the children growing up in fatherless homes.

Halbert Sullivan of the Fathers Support Center sees it less as a social issue and more of an economic one. He says fathers who cannot support their children will likely be absent in their lives, and about 70% of kids without responsible dads in their lives drop out of school or end up in the juvenile justice system.

“And there’s a huge, huge impact on pregnancy. Eighty-two percent of all young ladies who get pregnant come from fatherless homes, and as we know teen pregnancy keeps the cycle of poverty going,” he says.

Last night at the annual "Toast to Fathers” dinner at the Palladium, the Fathers Support Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. In that time, almost 14,000 men have completed their program, impacting more than 40,000 kids.
