Flu Season Coming to a Close in Missouri

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Lots of us are still dealing with the flu-related illnesses, but can we see some light at the end of the tunnel?

New cases are down in St. Louis County for the fifth week in a row -- they're also falling in St. Charles County.

"I would hope that in the next week or two, couple of weeks, we can start to see the flu season winding down," says SLU Care's Dr. Nirav Patel, infectious diseases specialist at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital. "This year we had both flu A and flu B spikes sort of concurrently or around the same time, and that's prolonged the season a little bit, but you'd expect the flu season to last about four to six weeks, and I'm hoping in the next two weeks we are ending the flu season," he says.
