Flu Symptoms Affecting 6 Percent of Missouri

February 09, 2018 - 7:48 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Earlier this week, the health departments for St. Louis and St. Charles counties confirmed new flu cases continue to decline - but how many of us still have the flu?

Inder Singh is founder of Kinsa Health, which tracks the flu on a daily basis with its "smart thermometers."

"Right now, we're seeing a 6.4 percent of the population has flu-like symptoms in Missouri, and in Illinois we're seeing 5.8 percent of the population has flu-like symptoms."

Both states are on the decline. The St. Louis Metro area, meanwhile, is at 6.4 percent of the population with flu-related symptoms.

Another measurement comes from the website doctors report.com, which finds the flu here currently is hitting the hardest in Ladue, Chesterfield, St. Peters, High Ridge, Barnhart, Valley Park and Glen Carbon.
