ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Local start-up Geniecast is getting into the hologram market, so-to-speak.

"We always say 'it's kind of like a hologram,' although it's not a hologram. If you remember watching Star Trek and someone appears, that's what 'APiR' is doing," says founder Keith Alpert.

The company that brings big-name speakers to your event virtually, just demonstrated new technology that frees the speaker from a giant screen at the front of the room.

"Recently, we just had, for a big client, a major CEO speak to a conference because he couldn't be there," Alpert said. "It was unbelieveable. He could walk around, he could present and give his message. People in the audience could listen and ask Q and A."

Alpert says Geniecast provides more than the hologram; they'll book the speaker for you too.

He says he's had no problem growing this tech company in downtown St. Louis.
