Gin Week Makes St. Louis a Gin Hotspot

May 11, 2018 - 8:09 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX)- People usually think of St. Louis as a beer town. But this week is Gin Week and Natasha Bahrani of Gin World says its popularity here is growing.

“Now that we’re in year four of the Gin Week festival, I think it’s just become a hotspot. It’s now very easy to convince my brands from all over the country and all over the world to fly into St. Louis and do these events,” she says.

Gin Week culminates tomorrow with the Gin World Gin Festival, which has expanded this year to a new location--2nd Shift Brewing. Bahrani says 2nd Shift has collaborated with a gin brand to create a special release--a gin-botanical beer aged in a gin barrel.

The festival features more than 100 gins from around the world, plus live music, workshops and seminars.

“It’s almost like we’ve put St. Louis on the map as a haven for gin,” she says.
