Hampton 'Brisket Bandits' in Custody

April 06, 2018 - 7:07 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The 'Brisket Bandit' is in custody! Salt and Smoke owner Tom Schmidt tells KMOX news that a couple has been taken into custody and charged with nine felonies in connection with the theft of meat from the barbeque joint on Hampton in south city between January and this week:

“They were able to take several pork butts and several briskets over that period, they destroyed three sets of doors on our smokers and caused about $5000 worth of physical damage to that,” he says.

Schmidt says the felonies include destruction of property and theft. The couple allegedly stole not only barbeque but other things like lawn mowers from neighbors around Hampton to feed what police told Schmidt is likely a drug addiction.
