Hard Rock Cafe at Union Station Closing, But Could Reopen in STL Area

August 16, 2018 - 7:59 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A two-decade run comes to end today, as Hard Rock Cafe at Union Station is closing at the end of business on Thursday, to make way for a big candy store.

Property owner LHM told the St. Louis Business Journal this summer it plans to spend between $5 and $8 million on renovations, as part of the $160 million overhaul of Union Station. The St. Louis Aquarium is set to open at Union Station in October 2019

In place of Hard Rock will be a candy emporium, which LHM believes to be more in line with its family-friendly remodel of the Union Station area.

There's a chance the cafe chain won't be leaving the St. Louis market altogether. The company has previously said it remains open to finding a new spot in town, but has made no announcement.

The next closest Hard Rock locations are in Indianapolis, Nashville and Chicago.
