Heat Is On: Excessive Heat Warning Issued for St. Louis Metro

Officials say a dangerous combination of heat and humidity will spread across the region with little relief expected.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued an excessive heat warning for the city of St. Louis and the metropolitan area.
 
It's in effect from noon today through 8 p.m. Monday.


 
Officials say a dangerous combination of heat and humidity will spread across the region with little relief expected, even during nighttime hours.
 
Heat index values could go as high as 107 degrees.
 
Some safety tips include:
 
*  Wear light-weight, loose-fitting clothing.
 
*  Keep plenty of fluids on hand and stay inside as much as possible, or take frequent breaks in an air-conditioned environment.

*  Never leave children unattended in a vehicle, and check your back seat before leaving your car.

Cool Down St. Louis is getting flooded with calls from people needing help with their utility bills or getting an air conditioner.
