High Voter Turnout Expected in Tuesday Primary

August 02, 2018 - 7:50 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Local election workers are gearing up for what could be a big election day Tuesday.

Director of Elections in the city of St. Louis Gary Stoff says they could see more than 35 percent voter turnout, in part, because of Proposition A.

“It’s a big draw, and it’s one of those issues where most folks are not lukewarm, they’re either very, very strong on one side or very, very strong on the other side,” he says.

St. Louis County also says Prop A is driving up the turnout. Based on absentee voting so far, the county is also expecting a 35 percent voter turnout Tuesday, about 5 percent higher than usual for a mid-term primary. Goff says lines may be long in the evening hours, but morning and afternoon lines should be relatively short.
