FERGUSON, MO (KMOX) - Impeaching President Trump is not high on her to-do list. At least for now.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi swings through Ferguson to promote campaign finance reform and voting rights, saying any move now to impeach the President "would not be worth it."

"I have always said that until we have the reports and the rest of that, that we shouldn't be spending our time on that," Pelosi said.

For now, the Democratic leader is hoping to stoke up public support for new limits on dark money in politics,  and new laws to make it easer to register and vote.

"If you don't vote, you don't count, and that's why the other side wants to suppress the vote," Pelosi said.

Pelosi was joined by U.S. Congressman Lacey Clay at an event hosted by the Urban League, both admitting that the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate will oppose the bills.

Clay says the original Voting Rights Act pushed through by President Lyndon Johnson needs to be expanded.
