ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — A $2,500 reward is being offered for information in a case of puppy abuse. The Humane Society of Missouri says a 3-month old female pit bull's ears were mutilated.

The puppy was found in North Saint Louis County by a passerby who saw someone throw the dog out a moving car.

“There is absolutely no justification for this type of horrific abuse of a defenseless animal," Humane Society of Missouri President Kathy Warnick said in a news release. "We will do everything in our power to find and hold responsible the person who did this atrocious act.”

The puppy has been named Gloria and is in stable condition and will be available for adoption soon.

Anyone with information about this crime should call the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Hotline at 314-647-4400 any time, day or night. Calls may be made anonymously.
