Chicago, IL (KMOX) - Illinois says it's the first state able to test for the coronavirus in-state.

The state department of public health lab in Chicago is qualified to conduct the testing.  Officials say the ability to test in Illinois will mean any new cases can be detected earlier.  Test results are typically available within 24 hours.

Two Illinois residents have tested positive for coronavirus, while 44 test results have come back negative.
