ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Governor Bruce Rauner Marked Veterans Day at the Illinois State Fair Sunday by signing six new laws aimed at helping those who served.

Among the measures is one that lets homeless veterans get a free copy of their medical records.

“One of them makes it easier and streamlines for many veterans to get special ID cards that they’re entitles too, and then two of them have to do with special license plates. Our veterans deserve to have special honors on their license plate paid for by the state government as a way to help cherish our veterans and honor them,” he says.

Another new law adds veterans to the state's silver alert program while the sixth designates November 4th as GI Bill of Rights Day in Illinois.
