ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - More than half of Illinois' metro areas, including the Metro East, added jobs over the past year.

“We saw a lot of gains in transportation, warehousing and utilities, education, health services and manufacturing,” says Illinois Department of Employment Security spokesman Bob Gough.

He says the Metro East's unemployment rate remained unchanged year over year at 4.7 percent, while the region added 1600 jobs over that time.

The overall Illinois unemployment rate fell from 5.1 percent last June to 4.5 percent this June.
