ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Women in law enforcement from all over the world are gathered at the Ritz Carlton for a Women's Leadership Institute.  The conference is sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Cecilia Rosser is senior advisor for the association. She says the curriculum was developed in 2013 to identify leadership, personal and business skills that women need to progress in the law enforcement field. Attendees are also mentored by other women who have reached senior level positions.

“What we try to address in the course is an understanding of how some of the differences in, for example communication skills, an area where women tend to excel and how to takes those skills and leverage them for career progression,” she says.

Women from the St. Louis County Police Department both officers and staff members are attending the conference.
