ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - If it seems like they've been doing a lot of work along Interstate 44, between downtown St. Louis and Interstate 270, in recent weeks and months, you're right.

When might that wrap up?

MoDOT's Andrew Gates says the eastbound road resurfacing work  between Grand and Kingshighway Blvds. will be done by year's end. Then a similar project will begin on the westbound lanes in that same section and expect it to be completed in the spring of 2020.

Also during the winter crews will be working on the new pedestrian bridge over I-44 in that same area, Gates says it was removed a few months ago.

Work on I-44 near Shrewsbury is slated to wrap up by the end of this year, although Gates says they'll have some nighttime work to resurface that part of the highway next spring.

MoDOT has been working to widen the lanes, replace bridges and resurface parts of of I-44 since late last year. You can see their full plans, here.
